Thomas Kinkade wasn't just a great painter but a man deeply moved by the spirit of light. He inspired us all with both his talents and his convictions and it is with great sadness to hear about his death recently. He helped many 'see the light', so to say, and it would be only fitting to use this moment to reflect on the gratitude we feel today as sober members of recovery. That's the least we can do. Rip...Thomas Kinkade.

MONTE SERENO, Calif. A family member says painter Thomas Kinkade battled alcoholism over the past several years and had a relapse just before his death at his home in Santa Clara County.
Kinkade's brother, Patrick, tells the San Jose Mercury News that decades of attacks on Kinkade's work and a split with his wife two years ago had taken a toll on the famous "Painter of Light." Kinkade died in Monte Sereno on April 6 at age 54
