thank you Gonee.  thank you for the reminder.  these days so many people are hurting financially, it would be easy to let that insecurity over shadow the whole picture and forget to trust God.  He can help me balance the physical, emotional, and spiritual much better than i can on my own.  sheila/jj

I was in a meeting once with a bunch of thumpers. one guy was talking about the instincts and how they interconnect. He said when he used to show up in meetings with a girl on his arm, it wasn't just the sexual instinct he was dealing with it was the social instinct as well. he wanted to have the girl on his arm so he would have bragging rights. Look at me! I get the pretty ones before you do. So it was a sexual and a social instinct at work here and no doubt security too because he felt he needed the girl on his arm to feel good about himself. I suppose it could just as easily have been reversed and it could have been a woman with a younger man. So when we start to look at these things, which many of us had never did before coming into the program, we begin to peel back the layers of our twisted misguided interactions with others.

The late but great Ray OKeefe used to say, Money. Power. Sex. And since money and sex are a form of Power in some cases, that its really about Power. having the power. Being in control. Being the number one man, king of the hill, etc.
