one foot in front of the other

If you keep putting one foot in front of the other, you make progress. I know that if you're going through hell, the best thing to do is keep going (winston Churchill, summer, 1942). A friend told me that when in stormy seas, turn into the weather, full speed ahead to maintain steerage and keep your bows pointing into the seas. Eventually, the storm abates and you can ease back a bit.

It feels like it's been heavy weather for me for much of the past year, but the seas are easing, the sky is clearing, the wind is dropping and all I had to do was keep going.......

Now, so many things have come together at the same time, I got the job I wanted, in the location I wanted, I have somewhere good to live, with a strong fellowship around me, there are people who care and some who even love me as I am today, the sun is shining, the birds are singing and I'm more than a bit choked up with the pure joy of just being alive........

We will not regret the past (for it is what has brought me to TODAY) nor will we shut the door on it (for I can continue to LEARN from it), No matter how far down the scale we have gone (and some went further than others) we will see how OUR experience (that's all of us, together) can benefit others..........

Dear God, I love my life, I love this fellowship and I love myself, promises really do come true, they really do......

If anyone is reading this who has doubts, then please, don't leave before the miracle happens.

wonderful share!  so glad your persistance and doggedness in finding where you belong has happened.  AA support helps us find our place,  journeying through the many neighborhoods, through the temptations of wanting to settle for the easier path, to a place we can rejoice to call home takes a daily program and lots of prayer.  so happy for you, Bill.    jj/sheila

What a wonderful share, my friend, and worthy of all appreciation. So keep the momentum going Bill and never look back, because life can only get better from here.

Thank you, Bill. I needed to hear that today. I should have read that before I decided to play hooky from work. Life has been too much lately and I needed to just be home. So far my drinking has decreased, and is decreasing gradually due to hard work I'm doing in therapy and with th help of this board. The amazing stories and encouragement help me and i'm very grateful for all the sharing. Keep on trucking' Bill, I believe in you.
