Sounds good, Mark. They ask at almost every meeting if there's anyone that wants to sign the register (?) for being a home group member. So I didn't know if this was something I needed to do right away or not.

I'm at 17 days sober and have attended meetings almost daily. I've been to 7 different groups so far and am liking some better than others.
There is one group that I would not consider missing. It is a smaller, closed discussion group that meets once a week. I really like it - although I've only attended a meeting there twice so far (only sober that long).
Is this enough to choose this as a home group or should I wait awhile longer?
or should I wait until I have a sponser and then choose the same home group as her?

A 'home group' is a meeting you make a point of always attending. Where the members will have a chance to get to know you and you will get to know them.
LOL. My 1st couple years I had a 'home group' for each day of the week.
Christine that sounds like a contender. It should be a small group of people that you trust and feel comfortable letting them get to know you. Wouldn't hurt to pick that one. You can always switch. I had 2 home groups, both were 12 & 12 Step meetings. One was on Monday, to get my head right for the week, the other on Friday to get my head right for the weekend. . In 3.5 years, unless I was on vacation or at a rock show, I don't think that I missed a meeting. That made me read the 12 steps 28 times. It's what you call "on board" now. lol
You don't have to figure it out right away. I went to so many meetings in my first 2 years that there were like 5 meetings that could have all been "home groups." The fact is that you are now so active in AA that you have multiple home groups and that is just fine. Don't make this into a problem because it's not....it's actually a good thing. Just focus on being a member of the groups you go to for now. That is all that matters. Just my 2 cents.....You will know over time which one is the one that is really your "home" group. It won't be a hard decision.

Hi-see if you can get hold of the AA pamphlet called AA The Group. It has a lot of info that is good to know--selecting a home group ideally includes some degree of commitment to the group (not just the meeting) over time.
