I picked up my 4 month chip today at a meeting I am currently the secretary for. I know some people were surprised that it wasn't an 8 month chip.

It's true that I haven't had any alcohol for 8 months. I did indulge in pot nightly for the first four months to help with sleep though. After working (and still working) my way through the steps, I decided to change my sobriety date to the date I quit smoking pot. It seems to me that's when my real recovery and total honesty truly began. Others may choose differently, but for me, this just felt right. In the end, 2011 will always be the year I got it together, by the grace of God and if I stay spiritually fit.

I also quit cigarettes 2 months ago today! So I am a very grateful girl in sobriety who is so utterly butterly thankful for AA, my home group, my sponsor, my Higher Power, and all of the lovely, lovely people here at MIP. Thanks for helping me to stay sober. :)

It works...if you work it.

Hi Vixen,

Congrats on the 4 months and it's great you have a position at your HGroup! Like the humility and gratitude and enjoy your input here at MIP.

Congrats Vixen! Quitting drinking, drugs, and cigs in the same year is tough. good to send them down the road together.

Thank you all very much for the kind words and encouragement. I really appreciate having a place to share and to learn more about this disease and the people, like me, who have it. :)
