Looking for a Sponsor in Grand Junction/Denver Metro Area..

Hello,

I am looking for a sponsor for my boyfriend who is currently incarcerated, colorado state penitentiary. He is trying to make parole in April and wants to do everything he can to stay on the right track. Someone in Grand Junction would be ideal but the Denver metro area is alright. If anyone has any suggestions on how I can find a good sponsor or would like to be his sponsor it would be appreciated immensely.

You can contact me here or at (email address on white board at profile)

awwThank You,

 Sarah

Hello Sarah and welcome to the board. I would not post your email there. Rather use the personal message system. We've had spam bots on this message board. I'm getting spam from another moderators email via a spam bot for about a year now.

Hi Sarah,

It may be tough to find a sponsor for him on this board, I don't recall anyone from CO who is active here. Best advise would be to go to the local AA central office, http://www.daccaa.org/

Call or email them and tell them you would like to have someone call you regarding the situation. You could go to some of the open AA meetings in the area and meet some people or (best option) he/you could also just call the central office a few days before he gets out and and set a time for someone to come by for a 12th step call on a specific date after he gets home.

I wouldn't suggest that you get a sponsor for him. Best thing would be for him to ask one of the people who come over for the 12th step call to be his "temporary sponsor", that leaves the door open for him to ask someone he feels may be a better fit once he gets to meet more people at the meetings.

Hope this helps.

You can PM me if you have any other questions I can help with.

Rob
