I saw this old ceramic dog bank at the salvation army a while ago. I loved it, even though my buddy Mark (my bf) found it completely ugly and tacky. It was ugly and tacky, but it made me laugh. Here are some photos of happy things.
god-smiles, fishing, my children's laughter, making good food, eating good food, fishing, dressing comfortably, my daughter's first date, my son's first bass-riff, fishing, my wife's little kisses, my sleep-number bed, fishing, hammering a nail straight, bacon, merino wool, cats and christmas trees, my kids, fishing, boats and what makes me happiest of all...
A loving conection with the God of My Understanding.
Wow. Cool. Dean, you have manatees near you? COOL. Awesome! JJ, cool, you have your own chickens! Aquaman, I also love cats. And yes, seeing people stop drinking is great, great for them and inspirational for everyone else.
Today, I became a Grandmother (again!) to a healthy boy. So, I'd have to say that my kids and grandkids (and two GREAT grandkids) give me joy and happiness. And the miracle that I'm even around to see it all happen. More randomly, seeing the sun shine. That's nearly as big a miracle as a baby around here!
Birds of prey in flight. when I can coax a robin to feed out of my hand. Fishing.......and catching! Seeing my mate Steve with his kids. Having friends. Being sober. Facing it and getting through. Seeing people smile. Snow. Summer showers. Sunshine. Turkish mint Tea. really hot, really strong coffee. Playing guitar with mates round a campfire. My Bike. My Beemer. low winter sun, being all wrapped up and strolling through the snow at the local reservoir. Hot chocolate. Music, listening and playing it. A dog smiled at me at the bank the other day. I'm serious, this lady had her dog in the bank and I really like dogs so when it looked at me as we were waiting in line I smiled and it smiled back. It sounds crazy but it's true.
And since I believe that animals have an instinctive ability to sense the good (or bad) in people it gave my self esteem a boost. As retarded as it sounds it really brightened my day :)
That is awesome Tipsy! I had a dog smile at me a little while ago. It doesn't sound crazy- dogs can and do smile, you see it clearly! Their whole expression changes! I love it when dogs smile at me! I love it even more when cats I don't know smile at me, because they don't seem to smile as much.
I have a very strong affection for animals and they seem to sense it. Shy cats don't run away and will let me scratch them behind their ears. Dogs just can't get enough of me! I did get attacked by a momma mountain sheep once but I got between her and her kid so I kind of had it coming. but for the most part I feel calm as a Hindu cow when I'm around non-human creatures. It's a deep source of shame to me that I haven't been successful in my attempts to become a vegetarian. If only animals didn't taste so darn good :(
I like the doll. Its a rushton. Type in "Rushton stuffed animals"- they are ALL weird. :) I like weird. I love being around animals, too, and feel MUCH more peaceful around them than around humans. )
I used to hate them. Rotten, hungover, shaky things they were. Just another day of being a vessel for the alcohol. I used to hide in bed for as long as I could as if sleeping could somehow help me avoid the hollowness my life was.
Now I love them. I bounce out of bed at 6:00 am and go off to work whistling.
Enjoying mornings shows me just how far I've come and how good my new life is.
