Honesty is it's own reward

at least that's what my Mum used to say. Living the programme means we try to practice rigourous honesty. AA doesn't only ruin your drinking, it also ruins your lying!

Last night, on the way to the meeting, I called off at the local store to get money and tobacco. As I reversed my car out, I reversed it bang into a brand new Volkswagen. Bugger!. So I went back in the store and asked who had the black volkwagen?

A woman said, that's mine, what's wrong. I'm sorry but I've just tupped it.

Cut a long story short, I asked her if we could sort this off insurance as I carry £500 excess. Well it was a company car so normally this isn't possible, so I thought oh well, I'll just have to give them my insurance details and take the hit.

This afternoon, her boss called and said he would send me an estimate for me to agree (£120) and would I pay it no quibble. So I'll get in touch and get that sorted. It benefits me, it benefits them. The reason - well mate he said, you were honest enough to cough to the accident, so why should I shag up your no claims bonus? Sweet.

Hey Bill,
To me, the honesty was the greatest gift of the program. Sometimes it shocks people sensible.

Bill, I have to warn you. You are in danger of a long and happy sobriety. Keep applying the dunfermiline ointment.

God bless,
Mike H.

Fyne Spirit, longevity depends on time but happiness depends on state of mind. Both are acheivable.
