"Individuals who obtain professional treatment and participate in AA in the first year after initiating help-seeking are more likely to achieve remission for up to 15 years later than are individuals who obtain professional treatment alone."

Hmmmmm!?  So... professional treatment isn't nearly as successful without follow up in AA?

Gosh, if they had just asked a couple of us alkies, maybe they could have saved all that money on research!

All treatment centers I know about have AA meetings on site and suggest 90 meetings in 90 days upon release.researchers have got to have something to research that's their job. Our job is to stay sober and carry the message to other alcoholics, in or out of treatment.

Thanks for the info Dan.
