I went to my home-group and 'fessed up today. I asked for a lead on a new sponsor and got a name & number. I called him and we talked for a bit. Sounds like a good fit. He wants me to get into as much step-work as I can handle and call him when I want & need to. My old sponsor, no-hard-feelings, insisted that I go to a certain meeting every week and abandon my home-group entirely. That certain meeting is a smoking meeting and after 18 months without a cigarette i was back to a pack a day in no time and . I've quit that again.
Gonna call my old sponsor as soon as my phone is done drying out (another day in the rice-bag on the dashboard ought to do it) and I think he'll be kinda relieved. I am.
Wow, I didn't know that "smoking Meetings" still existed. A close friend here "Frank" is fighting lung cancer from second hand smoke via smoking meetings from 15 years ago and hanging around after meetings outside talking to smoking members. That's what 35 years of sobriety and giving back to the program has given him.
Great stuff Aquadude. And BTW, you help keep me sober: you've had some ups and down, BUT YOU KEEP COMING BACK. That's what this is all about -- if you don't AA, AA will get you. :)
