I dont know if this is in the right place, so please feel free to move/remove.
I have just came on here tonight to say a big massive thank you to the AA.
4 years ago yesterday, I was at my lowest ebb and couldnt handle life with my alcoholic partner anymore. He had just attempted suicide the day before i really couldnt see anyway forward for us. I had tried everything thinkable.
4 years ago today he had his last drink and 4 years tomorrow night was the 1st time we both entered an AA meeting, together with hope that this would help him.
We listened to a young man talking about his problems with drink and his life now without it 2 yrs on......I was in total awe of everyone in that room that nite ....could just never imagine me and my OH being in that situation. But i had tried everything else so was opened minded and hopefull that this was the place for him.
He stuck at it and now 4 yrs on he has his own business, and we have a life beyond ma wildest imagination 4 yrs ago. Its not perfect we have our ups and downs like any other couple but the difference is now he is sober and not turning to booze to solve his problems :)
Im just sooo proud of him and love him to bits for the life that we now have and will be eternally grateful till the day i die that he found the AA and stuck to the program.
A joyous occasion and a happy couple. Congrats to the two of your for sticking it out. You beat the odds. We do have an Al-anon board btw you can find it here. http://alanon.activeboard.com/forum.spark?forumID=42727 I believe you'll have to register for it separately. Send your hubby in here for a virtual cake. lol and a medallion
