It's cold, very windy and lot's of slashing rain. My sister (who's a coronor's officer) tells me the fatal pneumonia season has started early, snow is falling on the scottish mountains (ok they're maybe just hills to you guys, but they're big enough to ski down), I'd like to get the remaining site audits done up north before the end of the month, but on the upside, Beowulf the Beemer has new front tyres and a new exhaust! I'm off to Dumfries tomorrow afternoon for a convention, I have a car with a heater to go in if I don't fancy using the bike, I have accomodation booked and I've paid for it, there's a lot of delightful rental properties coming up in scotland that are within my means, so far I haven't had to step 10 to anyone today. Could I be living one day at a time?

back up a step to the convention. In Scotland they're called Gatherings, as in Gathering of the Clans - and they are way different somehow to English Conventions. The message is the same, but imagine a gathering attended by around 2500 people - yes, planned in as much as teh venue is booked, the catering is arranged, the sound system works, but the speakers / sharers are chosen on the day - the pipers turn up as required, sometimes 1, or 2 or 3, there's splinter groups for the entertainement - on the Friday there was the formal dance, the headbangers ball in the church hall over the road, the Irish boys took over their hotel for an impromptu sing song. Now if you ever end up in Dumfries in Scotland around this time next year, call in at the Blue Bonnets Gathering.
