WOW, can't believe I am at this place in my life. I will post my "story" later. Today I took the step of telling my husband (no surprise to him) that I admit I have a problem with alcohol and need help. I am scared of going to a meeting, but I know I need to. I am new to the area I live in and have little support. Nobody I know well enough to ask for help from. Or an ear. So I am here, online, looking for some sort of help. I cannot continue to spiral out of control like I have through the past year. I have to save my marriage, get my depression under control and be a better mother. I have to save my life. I black out. I scare my daughter. I feel like a failure. I want to feel better. Thanks for listening.

Welcome to the board. Good luck in your new journey of discovery. You've got a lot to live for and this disease kills people. Meetings are great, lots of support there. They have womens meetings, I'd suggest you look online to find one. Don't wait on this, you could a change of heart tomorrow and continue drinking.

You are right, I will look for one. I would be much more comfortable in an all female meeting. Thank you!

Look a meeting up on the Internet...you are new to the area ... You are not alone...when you go to a meeting I am sure you will be surprised ... Everyone is there to help you, all you need to do is ask. Stick around after the meeting...talk to some folks....remember...one minute, one hour, one day at a time....welcome!

before you know it, you will be sober for a year and be helping other new ppl, its great!!

If you keep drinking, your life is going to get worse, guaranteed!!

Funny thing is that you dont have to know anyone in AA to get support. Get to a meeting, grab a cup of coffee sit so you can hear the people and raise your Best of Luck and you can and WILL feel better as time goes on. All of a sudden.....slowly. Listen and you will hear your story.

Wow, "struggling"! I read your post and thought I wrote it.

I am just starting out too and I am very afraid. The stupid thing is that I ran away from my husband and my 13 year old daughter. Now I am all alone living in a Motel in the Yukon. I should have stayed with my family but I was drunk and thought they needed me to go away so I would stop hurting them.

I am so scared and feel so alone. If only I could turn back the clock but I can't so now I just need to get better.
