HCG Diet, 25% ethol alcohol per 2oz bottle
Permalink

Was going to start this diet for a month, noticed on the bottle after I took my first dose that it has 25% ethol alcohol. I have 3.5 years sobriety. Should I continue or not. I feel that if it does not trigger the craving then all will be well. I know a call to the sponsor is due as well.

Thanks,

Dale

drinking alcohol is a bad idea for alcoholics...so it depends on whether you want to drink alcohol or not I guess

For me.I would discontinue, actually I would probably check first before I used it.Even cough medicine,Veal Marsala ,balsamic vinegar etc,I tend to shun away from. Its for me like not being around those burning blunts,or using a stem, dont even want a contact buzz.Im not fanatical about it but  I try and stay aware....There are vague areas(such as we must abstain from all drugs, but having no opinion on tobacco and caffeine?)As Lin says using alcohol as an alcoholic seems to depart from what we are trying to do "abstain from alcohol"!!Anyway its on you.good seeing yourself comin!!!.........peacesmile

I wonder what purpose the alcohol serves other than to make you feel good about your diet?  LOL....

I do suppose its like taking a cough/flu remedy with alcohol in it or eating a food that has alcohol as part of a rub. You are not getting much for sure just a dropper 3 times a day.

Did look online and they do sell the same thing alcohol free so there is my answer. Guess the moral to the story is look before you decide to try something. Oh and to let you know the alcohol is used for several reasons, one it is supposed to absorb faster, its more stable in un refrigerated conditions and last longer one opened.

I stopped using cough medicine containing alcohol when I got sober.  At the time there were few non-alcohol choices available but now most brands are available alcohol free.  Of course alcohol itself is a halfway decent cough suppressant.  I find that the dextromethorphan cough syrups without alcohol, and without decongestants (which really mess me up) are effective when I'm really desperate, as in the coughing just won't stop and I can't sleep - but the DM has unpleasant sideeffects on me that cause me to use it only as a last resort.  I guess there are people who actually get high on DM by taking large doses.  Ick, ick, and double ick.  I hate the stuff even in a small dose.  It's one thing I never have to worry about abusing.

I couldn't resist getting some info from wikipedia:

In the U.S. there is no standard size for a single shot, except in Utah, where a shot is defined at 1.5 fl oz. In Canada, a "shot" generally refers to the province's definition of a "Standard Drink" under liquor licences. Although sizes may vary, most provinces cite amounts similar to Ontario's guidelines of 0.6 ounces or 17 mL of pure alcohol; since a "shot" is typically a spirit with 40% alcohol, this makes the shot 1.5 oz or 43 mL (though many establishments serve a lower "standard drink" of only 1 oz)[

So 25% alcohol content of a 2 oz bottle is 1/2 an ounce - just under the .6 oz of 80 proof (40%) alcolhol or a couple drops less than 1/2 a 'standard drink'.

And the HCG does nothing to help lose weight its a hoax, its the 500 calories a day your only allowed that does it and the foods your only allowed that makes this DIE t work, you starve your body basically but spread the meal out to keep or get metabolism up.

Did you notice the PH.d behind my name? neither did I :)

Hi Dale,

I would agree with what has been said about not using the alcohol mix.

I know this does not relate to the question, but I did the Master Cleanse 3 years ago hoping to lose about 6 pounds and lost 15 over a few weeks, I did another detox and lost 5 more pounds about 1 year ago and have kept my weight stable.

I'm 5'9 165 lbs now, so I was never way overwieght, but I never imagined I would or needed to lose this much weight and gave me the incentive to change my diet choices and put better food into my body.

I would suggest just doing 3 days the 1st time, you won't be able to eat a lot the 4th, so most men will lose at least 7-8 lbs the 1st 4 days. You will still have a decent amount of energy with the system.

I began to understand the spiritual aspect of fasting, and how crazy and tired some foods can make you. I still "pig out" a couple times a week if I want, then I get back on the good stuff.

Can download the pdf book here; http://hookedinamsterdam.wordpress.com/2008/01/14/the-master-cleanse-book-free-via-pdf/
