I 've have dealt with concelors that are always prepared to say "yes you need help" in particular areas, but none are able to provide you with locations/people/ programs that can help.  I know it must start with me, but I have other issues that I need help with.

Hi Tim,
Welcome to MIP.
I would suggest to first address your drinking problem, and then begin a search to deal with your other issues.

Everything will work out like its suppose to

Welcome Tim. When I first came to AA, I thought I had a mountain of problems that could not be conquered. I had no idea how much sobriety would solve a lot of my issues and for the rest of them....it has given me a new ability to approach those problems that I did not have before.

Problems will always exist in life. Fortunately, solutions also exist if you are open to them. AA can help you learn to live life on life's terms instead of always going to a bottle and ignoring and compounding your problems.

Hope you stick around with us.

Mark

Hi Tim,

Welcome to "MIP". I spent a good portion of my life reminiscing about times lost and how life would have been so much easier without the stumbling block of alcoholism. What I needed to realize more than anything was how lucky we are to get a second chance at life and how life can go on despite our alcoholism. The life I was living up to that point was filled with enough chaos and anxiety that alcohol seemed to be a fitting end for it all. What I needed to experience most of all was a "total psychic change", which happened many years later surprisingly, all to the glory of God of course -ODAAT.

My suggestion Tim, Is that stick around long enough to realize that you too are chosen, and that anyone can achieve lasting sobriety and live reasonably happy for many years to come. The only obstacle to progress, though, is our alcoholism. The good news, however, is that it all can change in the blink of an eye -like it did for me one day 10+ years ago. I hope the same can be said for you -ODAAT.

I wish all of us could be given the same opportunities afforded to recovering alcoholics and witness firsthand the miracle of redemption. Life can become a rewarding rendition of "Amazing Grace", as our sober life beckons in delight with each passing day. Call it, a greater glimpse of a more sustainable future and how that could unfold from here. Because if we did, we probably wouldn't question things as we should. We would accept things -like our alcoholism in step 1, and move on from there. I hope you are able to do so, for today. Oh...one last thing; we'll be here to support you every step of the way. We promise...

~God bless~

It was in my helpless state that help arrived for me. I had been for counselling, but I would not yield myself to any spiritual help until I was totally devastated. Then in my sick & hopeless state of mind & body I reached for that filmsy reed which God had sent to me. Why should God help me? If I don't acknowledge Him, I don't see why He should acknowledge me. I got better little by little & my faith also built up. I am still here & God is still helping me 23 years later.
