A Prayer for a Hard Day

Grant me the serenity

To accept the things I cannot change.

The courage to change the things I cannot accept,

And the wisdom to hide the bodies of those people

I had to dispose of today because they peeved me off

And also,

Help me to be careful of the toes I may step on today,

As they may be connected to the butt I may have to kiss tomorrow

Help me to always give 100% at work... 12% on Monday, 23% on Tuesday, 40% on

Wednesday, 20% on Thursday, and 5% on Friday.

And help me to remember when I'm having a really bad day and it seems that people

are trying to peeve me off,

That it takes 42 muscles to frown and only 4 to extend my middle finger and tell them to bite me.

There will be a time when loud-mouthed, incompetent people seem to be getting the best of you. When that happens, you only have to be patient and wait for them to self destruct. It never fails.

Have patience with all things, but chiefly have patience with yourself. Do not lose courage in considering you own imperfections but instantly set about remedying them - every day begin the task anew.

Patience serves as a protection against wrongs as clothes do against cold. For if you put on more clothes as the cold increases, it will have no power to hurt you. So in like manner you must grow in patience when you meet with great wrongs, and they will then be powerless to vex your mind.

A handful of patience is worth more than a bushel of brains

It is very strange that the years teach us patience - that the shorter our time, the greater our capacity for waiting.

Patience is the companion of wisdom

Hey Phil! I get it.  Must be because I'm only 8 miles from the border, and only 170 miles (272 kilometers!) from the great city of Winnepeg, eh?

Kinda scarey when a state sider actually remembers Gary Trudeau, Brian Mulrooney, Jean Cretian, and Paul Martin, as easily as he does Trickey Dickey Nixon, Gerry Ford, Jimmy Carter, Ronnie "the Gipper" Reagan, and the Bush dynasty (with a little Bill and Monica intermission).

And yes, I'll admit, I did like to watch "Royal Canadian Air Farce" and "This Hour has 30 Minutes", except the dirty buggers down here on our cable provider just dropped CBC.

PS to Amanda: I too said a little prayer for you in dealing with the landlord from "Heck".  Hope things are better.
