~ 60 Days...By the Grace of God

Today is day 6o without a drink! This is officially the longest I have gone without drinking in over twenty years and it feels amazing. I truly feel that I am not in this alone and my relationship with my Higher Power continues to grow. It delights me to invite Him into my days and to align my will with His. Even on the yucky days, I feel so blessed to be living in a state of awareness instead of numbness.

My home group has provided strength, support, suggestions and wisdom at every turn. My sponsor works with me and shows patience while nudging me to places I need to go. The words here on this board never cease to inspire me. My Higher Power leads me to higher thoughts and carries the load that became to heavy for my soul and heart.

I am an alcoholic...a grateful, humble, recovering alcoholic and, I will not drink today.

I know that you are very excited, & you should be. Abstinence for an alcoholic still does not solve the mental obsession we are burdened with. I was burdened with a desire to drink for about 3 years before, I found true recovery by working the 12 steps earnestly. People like myself do not respond well to abstinence alone, although important as it is, it has to be at once followed by a "vigorous course of action." There were days in my recovery which I am not proud of, but they were stepping stones to recovery, because I converted those character defects into assets, by applying the 12 steps of recovery to them. Wish you well & please post often on this forum, so that I may read of your journey to recovery.
God bless.
Gonee.

Actually, the miracle working in my life right now is that I don't have a craving to drink! This has nothing to do with my willpower and everything to do with being aligned with the will of my Higher Power. I am actively working my steps and know that every day won't be a banner one but, nothing will be as bad as what it was.

Thanks for commenting. :)

Thank you all so very much! It's God's will that got me here and, God willing, will keep me here as well.
