Hi Everyone,

Just read the post that GammyRose shared about the father of three who took his life.

My father took his life when he was 38. I was a year and a half old, and I don't remember him at all.  He had been in rehab during his 20's but was not interested in any kind of recovery later.

I would give anything to have my dad. I'm 30, and before I started therapy a few years ago, I would have really bad days and cry and be angry that he was resonsponsible for his own early death.

I have been working for some time now on forgiving my dad for abandoning my family.  My therapist encouraged me to learn about alcoholism to help me understand more about my father.

This site has been so helpful!  Reading all of your posts everyday has helped me tremendously to let go and forgive.

Just wanted to thank you all for being so open and honest in your posts.

Good wishes to all of you in your recovery.

Mollyann, I'm so sorry you had to experience the death of your father. I know it had to effect your life, good for you for getting into therapy and working through the pain. Are you an alcoholic?

I will go visit the widow of this young man soon, I have nothing to say to her except I'm here for her and I love her. She will have to grieve and go through all the stages herself.

Mollyann, thanks for sharing your experience, strength and hope with us. Welcome to the board.Keep coming back.

(((Hugs)))

GammyRose
