when sobriety is all you got

been going through a time in my sobriety where i have been questing myself about everything and i don't mean my abstainance from alcohol and drugs.  more so where i am in this world and where i want to be and how to get there.

sure i am suppose to live in the day....but i feel that i need to re-evaluate myself and my place in the world.

i am a bit lost and confused and feel a bit out of control....my life isn't totally in ruins but my head and heart feel a bit perplexed.

has this ever happened to anyone in sobriety and what do you do about it?

i am not picking up anytime soon but i do feel a bit empty and at a loss for words.

just not all there but here.  if you all know what i mean.

by the time you all get this it will be morning so i will wish you all a good day

Many of us find that we still have other issues to deal with after we get away from the chemicals we were depending on.  I know that I was covering up bouts of depression with mine.

I haven't had it so bad that I had to go the prozac or zoloft route, but I have friends in AA who did.  In many cases, it's about chemical imbalances in the brain.

Not sure if I'm helping here, but talking with a doctor or other professional may help you find some answers to what you are feeling.

Hi Carey, Welcome.

I have discovered that I have many, many other "issues" besides being an alcoholic. They tell us in AA as more time goes by in sobriety, that more will be revealed. Man! How right that one is!  Along with alcoholism, I recently found I have abandoment issues and I discoverd from Phil's post that I'm passive/aggressive. For me, for now, attending as many f2f's as I can is what will get me thru. I may find that later on, I need some sort of therapy or to see an MD. Dan made a good point.

Are you attending meetings? Are you in close contact with your sponsor?

Keep posting.

Hugs,

Doll

Have had periods where Ive been in "Stuck Mode"  Its a "dont know where Im at, and where Im going thing."  We all need little goals to work toward--to motivate us-to look forward to. (within reason)  and reading and staying close to step 11 has helped, in this guys case.

My thoughts-my share, and you guys have a good day.:)

Carey,

Just want to welcome you to the board, I'm glad you found us.It sound like you are going through all the normal stuff. When the fog clears most of us start to look at things differently and ask questions.

How many meetings do you go to a week and do you have a sponsor? Just wondering. I know the more meetings you go to the better the chance that you will hear things that you might be dealing with in your life.

Keep posting, we are here to share our experience, strength and hope with you.

(((Hugs)))
