I am an alcoholic this I know, "Easy does it," they say; "Let yourself grow." "I have no patience," I exclaim with a sigh, "Give it time," says the old-timer, "Neither did I."
"Don't drink, go to meetings it's what you must do, Ask God for help; He'll come through for you." I'm lonely, I'm scared I'm lost and confused Over the years I've been used and abused.
I know that you're lying; you can't feel what you say, But God! I'd give anything to feel that way. "Keep coming back," you say, "Recovery's in sight" "It works," you say; I retort, "Yeah, right."
But the light's getting brighter; some things have changed, Two months clean and sober, I'm not as deranged. In these rooms, at these tables, I see what I'm after. Acceptance, Love, Hope, but most of all Laughter.
I'm happier now, a little more free. I'm so very grateful you did this for me. So I'll see you tomorrow, same time, same place, I hope you'll be here I like seeing your face.
So if you feel like drinking, your life's out of whack, Just remember: It Works And Keep Coming Back.
