I'm now 75 days clean from drugs and alcohol....I'm so thankful for the grace...this is not an easy journey but then again something worth doing never is...my problems haven't gone away but I now can at least face them with a clear head. My relationship with my wife whose also an alcoholic is drifting a bit. She is still in the grips of it and we re becoming like two ships passing in the night. My goals are clear for me, and I will not waiver regardless the cost. I've had memory and focus issues lately..is this normal? I guess it's going to take some time to unwind all that I've done... I get that...to anyone just getting sober or you're reading this and your time is coming.....there is nothing like freedom from these horrible substances..it's worth the pain and stress a million fold... Be sure and be strong and ask for help and support...you can do it..bless you..

Yeah, I think difficulty concentrating and feelings of despondency are fairly common between 1-4 months in sobriety. Some call it "the wall". It's the final stages of our brain chemistry healing. Just keep doing what you're doing and it will get better.

Memory and focus problems are common when people change from the old way of doing things toward a new way of living.   As was suggested "Stay the course" and add one more thing...compassion for your wife and unconditional love which are being afforded to you at the same time.  We are in this tub together.  I cannot afford to love her and hold her up to Higher Power that she might also experience the grace we have been given.

Good on you.  Keep coming back and working this recovery program along with the rest of us.  In support.  smile

My ex-wife was also alcoholic/addict and love her as I did still the only sobriety I could manage with the entire help of the fellowship was my own.  "God can and will if He is sought" is not fiction.

Hi Byrd,

What a refreshing  attitude, after 75 days, agree worth every bit of hard work and diligence...definitely NOT EASY, but very possible.

Welcome to our little family here.

hugs to you, Toni

Yah...you will feel more on top of things by about 6 months. Keep telling your self that you are getting stronger, more spiritual, and more whole daily...cuz that is the truth!
