That was a great place to get sober. Nothing like a 24 hour booze town to hit bottom and crawl into the strongest AA community I have ever seen.

No doubt. I remember visiting my friend in Tampa in the early '80's. He took me out drinking. At about 2:45 am we left the bar in time to hit 7-11 to get beer before they quit selling it at 3am. Then we hit the "Bottle Club" that opens at 3am till 8am. Band starts playing at 3:30am. I thought "If I lived here I'd be dead in 6 months". I was conditioned to pass out by 2 or 3 am.

Whats even better is hearing over the intercom Would Friends of Bill W. please meet their party at Gate such and such.

I had a long layover one time and responded with 2 Others, We went to a side corner and had an imprompto Meeting.
