Hi Brian. Welcome to MIP, if your a real alcoholic and keep drinking then you will die an untimely death. So no need to cut yourself in the meantime. There is a solution though were you donit have to die from the disease and eliminate the self hurting and suicidal thoughts, it starts with Step 1 and a meeting. Are you powerless over alcohol? Is your life unmanageable? Sounds like it. If so admit it, you have now completed step one, now get to a meeting and you will be on your way to a life you could have never imagined. I will pray for you my friend.

Hi Brian, My heart goes out to you. I used to feel like that. I felt unloved and unwanted despite having everything. Generation after generation suffers if we do not seek recovery. I thank God that He has enabled me to recover through the 12 steps of recovery, and saved my children from certain demise as well. The objective of AA is to enable me to find A POWER, that would solve my problem. I found that power in the 12 steps and it solved my problem. Despite myself I got well. It works. It's not about finding the right people, it's about finding the right attitude. People will always fail you. God never does. He loves us too much. Gonee.
Alcohol kills alcoholics. It can do it fast or it can do it slow but if you keep drinking it'll get you in the end. It nearly got me - I used to fantasise daily - hourly sometimes -about hanging myself and thought they were normal thoughts until I dried out, and I found out I wasn't alone when I got into AA. Many, many people have similar stories and I wonder how many other poor souls out there didn't make it because of this horrible disease.
Get to a meeting. Don't worry if you don't understand it. Just get your body there and your mind will follow when it can. You are one of us and we love you and want to help you.
Hey Brian, alcoholism is a disease that affects our mood and decision making. It's a depressant. You can't trust your feelings and if you're thinking of taking your life, you should call 911 and ask for help.
Hey Brian, I've felt ya buddy, this is where drinking brings me also.Today will make my third day cln.&sober. This of course is if I don't pick up a drink this minute, this hour and the next and tonight when I go to bed I will have that to be grateful for. I will talk to H.P. and thank him for being there and helping me. Through out my day I tell myself I am alive and okay at this moment. I will participate in my recovery. I know it's got to get better. I wish the best for you Brian. RECOVERY IN PROGRESS, melinda
Welcome, Brian. Sounds like when alcohol stopped working for me. There was no ease or comfort. The party was over. I drank becuase I had too. My emotions were pretty low- incomprenhesible demoralization... translates into feeling less than whale sh*t. Riddle with self centered fear, doubt & insecurity.
I got tried of living that way and walked through my fear and entered AA and my life changed.
I STRONGLY urge you to talk to your doctor. Not sure what all is going on with you, how much you're drinking, etc, but please do not take the situation lightly.

Very well said, Steve. Very well said, indeed.
Brian -- if you're thinking about self-harm, get medical help.
re: boozing vs sobriety. I can say with absolute, lie-detector passing with flying colors honesty: my life sober is better than anything than I could ever have imagined.
And if you want to get sober, you WILL get sober if you work the AA program to the best of your abillity and thoroughly follow the AA path.
