Trip going pretty good so far...

Overseas on business for a week now, one week to go.  Flight over was 15 hours sitting between two big American guys drinking beer the whole way.  Boy could I smell it.  I have to admit that was not entirely comfortable.

BUT, I prayed and my HP came through.  Episodes like that are like headaches, you forget about them as soon as they quit hurting.

Then  business dinners with everybody drinking wine and who knows what else, and why don't I try some, and am I sure I don't want any, and I know NONE of these people and will probably never see them again.  BUT HP came through again and no issues.  Everybody thinks I'm some kind of Amish guy or super-health concious nut.

Funny because the last hotel I was in, I called housekeeping and asked them to take the beer out of the fridge because "I don't like the smell".  Lady was super nice and said SHE doesn't like the smell either and won't keep it in the house, etc etc.  I told the desk at the place I am now also, and they haven't re-stocked it.  That's a nice little service.

Boy they sure have good tea in this country, wherever it is I am...

Stay strong everybody.

Ah yes, getting housekeeping to empty the mini bar. I still do it.

One time I stayed in a hotel for 2 nights, asked them to empty the minibar on day one, it got restocked day 2, asked them to empty it again, went to check out morning 3 to find that the autobar had billed all the booze to my room. Going through the explanation of how the minibar got emptied to a rather doubting receptionista when the 'Premier Checkout Manager' leaned across, sorted the problem then with a wink showed me the little gold circled triangle pin under his suit lapel.

Then one other time, early on, I had a bit of bother getting the manager to empty the minibar - just don't open it then he said. No, I want it out, I said, but why, but why.....
All I could think of was to tell him that I was a recovering alkie. Without batting an eye he said, Oh poor you, when will you be well enough to drink again? FFS!

The only place I have ever stayed where there was a fridge with booze was the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island here in Michigan. Beautiful place!!

I never had the booze removed from the fridge cuz it didnt bother me at all. Trust me, it was a little mini vacation for me and hubby and the last thing I was thinking about was drinking smile.gif

I do wonder sometimes tho what ppl think in those circumstances where everyone is drinking but me. And to be perfectly honest .. I dont really care what they are thinking.

Have a great time ZZ and a safe flight home.

HC - when I stay in hotels it's almost always for business and so I am almost always alone. In the early days I had the fridge emtied to remove temptation. Now it's so that I can get my hummus, salami, chorizo and fruit in there!
