Dad asked me to come here and say hello to his freinds, and to ask how Rick was.

I know my Dad is on here a lot.

When he leaves the site on, I read some of the things here. I know it's AA. And I have been to meetings with him.

Dad had to take a pill this morning because he has cancer. He was in bed all day.

Right now he is out driving taxi and is shaking real bad. He said that he had to be doing something. I know he is shaking so bad he cant push the keys on the computer board.

He has told me that it will be a few days before he will be back on the computer so I hope he doesnt see this.

He says the shaking is because of the pills. He has to take another pill Tuesday, and another on Friday, and then has to go for tests a week from Monday.

I know you are all his freinds.

My Dad has told me that this time it's worse.

I dont want my Dad to die. Every night this past week, I've listened to him crying, when he went to bed. I don't know what to do.

He has tried so hard to give us what we need, and want. He has been a great Father. I know he has gone without lots of times, so we could get what we needed.

The last while he was so happy.  He met someone and it was the first time I saw him happy in a long time. Dawn and I both met her. She was a nice lady. Dad went away last weekend and came back early. I don't know why. He would'nt say. He was sick again.

My younger sister Dawn and I, love our Dad.

We have watched him suffer, ever since our Mother left seven years ago. He took care of us.

I think he is lonely, and just wants someone to be happy with.

Dad was married, but she treated him like shit. He kept going back, but nothing changed.

My Dad deserves better.    Thanks.

Hi Jennifer,

I'm Dan, a recovering alcoholic with two grown daughters of my own, and I'm sure your dad loves you as much as I love them, without bounds.

I knew that there were serious health problems going on with your dad, and, honestly, already suspected it was what you wrote.  Don't feel bad for writing to his online friends, for the ones who have been on these boards a lot longer than me, know him well, and really care for him.  We will all be praying for him, and for you and your sister, I can promise you that.  Check back, if you get the chance, and read "Don't Quit", a thread that I am working on posting shortly.

Hi Jennifer,

All of us here love your Dad so much and we are praying that his health and wellbeing is soon back to where it needs to be. He has been such a help to so many of us in recovery and you can bet that every moment he is not here that we miss him so much.

You have a father you can be proud of. He has never once stopped thinking of others, even when I know that he has been in pain himself. For my own selfish reasons,I hope that he keeps fighting the cancer, because I cherish him as a friend and mentor.

It's ok that you don't know what to do. Just love him, and read the posts to him if he wants you to.

And Phil? you have raised a daughter that you can be proud of.

Love, cheri

Hi Jennifer.

My name is Jennifer also. If I'm not mistaken, I think your 15?

Anyway, honey, you post here when you can if it makes you feel better. I know your dad will understand and will want you to do what you need to feel better.

I've only been on this message board for a couple of months, but your dad has been a real inspiration for me. He's an awesome man with a lot wisdom.  I wish I could write something that would take away everyone's pain. Guess that's not possible. The best I can do is this; I am praying for your dad, you and your sister. You are all in my thoughts daily. Enjoy every moment you have with your dad and tell him you love him, a lot................

Much love to you and lots of hugs, Sweetheart.

 Hi Jennifer

A ditto to all that was said.

I use to peek into this board without enough nerve to jump in.  I got to know your dad a little before I even typed into the site.  GOD WORKS WONDERS  My little grandaughter was run over my a piece of equipment.  It didn't look very good, but she pulled thru and is doing wonderful. We all prayed and i'm doing the same for your dad.  Iv'e spoke to him on the phone a few times and he is a wonderful man and has helped alot of people.  Post if it makes u feel better he will understand.  All I can do is pray for u from here, right now.  U tell him Rick just got out of a powerfull meeting and is sayiong a prayer for him right now!!
