i go to AA

i am a drug addicted alcoholic

to me, a drug is a drug is a drug. So many that go to AA in my area are also drug addicted alcoholics. When i share i talk about alcohol. If i feel i need an NA meeting i go

i guess if i were you i would play it by ear. Take his calls but if you find that the subject keeps turning to drugs suggest he go to NA.

And good on you for being there to help another in recovery!

it is a WE program

Meth is taking over our communites here in Canada. Nasty drug.

I've taken it myself

Let your HP guide you

hugs, Wendy

Ditto what Wendy said. Ask the ole HP for help and guidance. Addiction is addiction, alcohol or otherwise. The same 12 steps apply. I am also recovering from drug (cocaine) addiction as well as alcoholism.  I happen to prefer AA to NA because alcohol was what started and finished my history of substance abuse. If this guy needs help with the meth addiction and you have trouble helping him personally in that area, perhaps you could help him by assisting with finding a good NA meeting in your/his area. As we know, help is not always words of wisdom and comfort. Sometimes it is simply pointing someone in the right direction. Hope this helped you.

Rick

Wagon,

As said before, the 12 steps are the same. When I did drugs I got really thirsty. You can tell this guy you have no experience with meth, but the solutions are the same. If he is willing to work the 12 steps thoroughly, both problems should be taken care of at the same time.

When I got sober, and completed step 3, I have never had a desire to use drugs again either.

Good luck, and talk to your sponsor about this too. He may have some good advice for you also.

Love, cheri
