Asking for support Please!!

I could use a little extra support tomorrow if ya"ll  dont mind.

We are having a Labor Day Party tomorrow here at my place. Some of the guys and their familes are coming over for a BBQ. I"m a little worried about the alchol being around. To say the least!!

I'll be in my comfort zone, so that will help. We have almost 2 acres, some are bringing 4 wheelers . We have alot of places to 4 wheel  around here. So it will be fun!!!!

Just asking for a-little help!!! Thanks

Nancy Jo

Nancy,

Can you call somebody you met at the meetings and ask them to come over too? Tell them why you need them with you...I'd come but I don't think I'd get there in time. Talk to your husband before the BBQ and ask him to keep the alcohol in one place for you.

I'll be thinking of you tommorrow(today?). Let me know how it turns out...

Love, cheri

Do the things u do.  For me morning medation and a prayer, this board and a couple readings.

It's when I don't do these thingd I have to worry. Take the friend suggestion.

I WENT TO MY BROTHERS PARTY LAST WEEKEND ALL WENT WELL. Someone set a cold beer right in front of me when i turned my hesd.  As sick as it sounds i felt it to see if it was full. Said to myself--wow are u nuts ?  wHy did u check it??   Time to move on.  I got right up left the table and went home shortly.  Your going to be home.  Go inside do what u have to.  It's the first one that will get u.

Good luck

I'm having a little get together today myself. If anyone brings beer, there the kind of people that would have just one or 2. One of my good AA buddies will probably be there.

NancyJo, Everybody had great suggestions, take the. I make sure I always have what I can drink on hand, usually in my hand.Lots of bottled water, Dr. Pepper, ice tea,...

If all else fails, come in log on, maybe someone will be on here. I'm on and off...soooo. Hey , you can do it, one minute at a time. Grab on to someone who's not drinking and hang with them. Are you going to be riding the four wheelers, just wondering with you back problems? It sounds like fun.

(((Hugs)))

This early in recovery, I too have been faced with that very situation. What I did was told an "outsider"  friend that I'm in recovery.  The "shame" that would come with taking a drink in front of them kept me in "check"........... just a suggestion to go along with all the other great ones .......... you're in my prayers........

Love to ya

Hi Nancy. Grab yourself a large glass of cold Coke with ice and a slice of lemon, plenty of sunblock (NO! not in the Coke) and have yourself a great day. Sounds like your going to be too busy to even think about alcohol.

Have fun.

Bye for now.

Chris.
