I have had a good day today I have made it through day 5 of sobriety. I talked to a couple of people about babysitting so I can attend meetings so far I know i can make 2 meetings a week. I called for a list to be sent to me of all the local meetings. I know 2 meetings a week isn't much I am goung to try to work in more. but being a single parent it's hard. My sons father is a alcholic too and he has been in and out of his life. It has been 4 1/2 months since he has seen him and has not even called to see how he is. So my son has alot of anger issues there. And that is hard to deal with. But when I was drunk I didn't have to deal much but in turn I also have been neglecting my sons emotional needs. I am going to get me a sponsor ASAP I have failed too many times on my own I am powerless and I need help.

Thanks to all of you that listen and respond you have been a great help to me

Loretta

Keep it up sister, one day at a time.

You will have ups and downs but if you keep away from alcohol, it WILL get better. The lows will get less and less low, and farther and farther between, and the highs will be better. Well done and good luck!

Keep on truckin! Another day down and you got another shot at a great day tomorrow! In the beginning, any day you didn't drink is a great day!

If you stay the course you are going to be so much of a better mother, better person....better everything....have faith!

Yay...for me that is what a commitment to sobriety sounds like and works like.  You
didn't say how young your child is but for me if he is old enough to understand some
of the disease language let him hear it so that he can also come to understand.

In support of your sobriety.   Keep coming back cause it works best that way.

Loretta,
Nice job!  One day at a time.  That's all any us of have.  Just today.  In early sobriety; my Sponsor would remind me that, if I didn't drink and worked the program I couldn't screw this up.  He was right.  My life is good today and my children love me for the father I've become.  I continue to learn and grow Spiritually and some of it seems to have inspired change in them.  Thank you God.
