Connie's double mastectomy
Permalink

So, Connie has her Double Mastectomy tomorrow.  Quick visit to the doctor today, a nice romantic dinner by the water, and time to head home. Just as the sun was setting, the stretch of road we were on had the sun right in our eyes.  It was brutal seeing but I got just the right angle where I could drive safely, but the young Marine in front of us could not. He plowed into the rear of an elderly couple taking a right turn at a traffic light.  The dynamics of the accident were such that the car that was rear ended was safetly off the main road, and the Marines car was able to continue straight safely and pull off into a restaurant.  Although we were following these cars, we were just far enough back when it occoured that we did not actually see the accident, and when we pulled up to the stop light, here was a car stopped to the right with a smashed rear end, the passenger door open and an elderly lady slumped over.  Connie was in our passenger seat and simply hopped out of our car and went to the woman as I cleared our car from oncoming traffic.
As I walked back to assist Connie, both her and the 85 year old lady were crying, not because the lady was hurt, but because as Connie got to the car, when she asked if the lady, Mona, was alright . Mona answered that she thought she was alright, but the seat belt had jarred where she had had a lumpectomy a while back and would Connie hold her hand? Connie told Mona that she understood because she was going to have her double mastectomy tomorrow.  They both started crying, and when I walked up and figured out why they were crying, well...... I guess the sun had affected my eyes because, well......Ok I got a bit watery.  Then all of us realized that the reason we were there was so that these two ladies could come together to help each other.  Pretty powerful stuff. The Lord works in strange ways.
Everyone walked away fine.  It turns out the 85 year old husband driver was also a retired Marine who was still very sharp and we strapped the pieces of his car back together so he could drive it a short distance to his home.
Sooooooo............Prayers please for Connie tomorrow.  She is prepared and ready.  A braver woman I will never meet. I love her very much.
Tom

Of course the prayers Tom and a ((((hug)))) from the Pacific for Connie.  Thanks
so much for the lesson on focus and helping others inspite of self.  I need that
daily 24/7.  HP is more cunning, powerful and baffling than our disease.

This story makes it hard for me to see the keys to type. Best wishes for a safe surgery. An AA sister who had a single masectomy and no reconstructive surgery showed us her tatoo that she had done there. The tatoo was one of the most beautiful I've ever seen, said it hurt way more than the masectomy.

Hi Connie,
I pray that our Lord Jesus Christ holds you and comforts you while the doctors hands are guided while they do the surgery.
It's the Master Surgeon who does the surgery. The doctors are helpers.
You will come out victorious and a testmony to others who have a similar problem.
Regrds.

Larry,

Do not fear what may happen tomorrow. The same loving Father who cares for you today will care for you tomorrow and everyday. Either he will shield you from suffering or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace then and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginings.

Good Morning,

Last night I swear, I think I felt Jerry's Prayer's on a Breeze headed your way, crossing over California on their way to you and your brave wife,  and now mine will follow his all the way to the East Coast....

I have been Praying everyday for you and your precious wife......and today will have a talk with GOD about your safety, and  Connie's successful surgery.

Thank you for that awesome story of the older couple,

You are so loved by so many others, and surely LOVED by God, Tom and Connie, and as Mikef writes all the time, "If God is FOR us, who would be against US??"

May God Bless you and hold you both in the Hollow of HIS Hands.

((((((((((((((((Connie)))))))))))

Looking forward to hearing back from you, our precious brother.

Tonicakes

Tom... you and Connie will both be in my prayers. Having gone through this you will see how strong of a wife you have and then you will see how strong of a husband she has...

In my thoughts and prayers,
Dave
