I wouldn't think so. Anyone is welcome to an open AA meeting.

No, It should not matter--both come under the Main AA umbrella.

Alanon, is for friends and family to help cope with their loved ones problem.

Open Meeting are for those who would like to see what happens at a Meeting.

Or at Speaker's Meetings to Congradulate the person and see them get a Chip or just to hear that person's story.

Well, seeing that we are welcome at their meetings, I don't see why there would be an anonymity issue. Like Susie said, open meetings are just that...open to everyone.

If Im not mistaken Alanons traditions are almost exactly the same as AA's traditions. ( if not the same ).

I think the .. " who you see here, what you hear here, let it stay here " is the same for Alanon as is for AA.

From Page 131 of the Al-Anon 12X12...Tradition Eleven

Our public relations polocy is based on attraction rather than promotion;
we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio,
TV and films.     We need guard with special care the anonymity of all AA
members.

I hold dual membership in both programs and in all the time I've been on
this journey I have never heard the name of a real or suspected alcoholic
mentioned in the family groups.  It's not necessary nor helpful to their recovery.

I guess if you are really sensitive about anonymity you would probably want to go to a closed AA meeting.

We have a few AA meetings in my area where they have Alanon meetings at the same location and time in a different room,  honestly I didn't know about it for a long time.

Never really noticed them.
