can any one tell me if having a alanon group meeting going on in a different room of the same building while a open a.a. meeting is going on breaks someones anonmity
Well, seeing that we are welcome at their meetings, I don't see why there would be an anonymity issue. Like Susie said, open meetings are just that...open to everyone.

Our public relations polocy is based on attraction rather than promotion; we need always maintain personal anonymity at the level of press, radio, TV and films. We need guard with special care the anonymity of all AA members.
I hold dual membership in both programs and in all the time I've been on this journey I have never heard the name of a real or suspected alcoholic mentioned in the family groups. It's not necessary nor helpful to their recovery.
I guess if you are really sensitive about anonymity you would probably want to go to a closed AA meeting.
We have a few AA meetings in my area where they have Alanon meetings at the same location and time in a different room, honestly I didn't know about it for a long time.
Never really noticed them.
