Wonderful older lady with 36 years sober... 4 DUI's, ran over someone, psyche wards, relapses, she was a nurse, the whole 9 yards. She did her drinking like I did mine, and showed me that we can stay sober no matter what. She led at tonight's meeting and we talked afterward and hit it off majorly. She was hilarious, and has a great deal of fantastic sobriety. She even looks like an older, shorter version of me. I found out where her home group is and I am going to become a regular there on Sunday evenings, because I want more of what she has. She hugged the daylights out of me and told me she thought I was adorable. Only in AA can two formerly trashy women get together who are many decades apart in age, and hit it off like sisters. Gotta love AA!!

Yey! LOVE hearing those gems and know they happen often in this beautiful fellowship! Thanks for sharing your miracle! I went to an AA's last week to start going through the steps again but with her guidance. I've met her several times since I arrived and heard her share a couple of times but didn't realise how similar our experiences were until we chatted last week (till 1;30am!). Happiness in AA is infectious - Thank you God! xxx
Joni, Nice! Great to see the student show up with willingness and God presenting the teacher. Good stuff. I learned in AA that one of the simplist things we do is put the drink down and talk. Share our experiences with others that have similiar experiences. We surround ourselves with people who have what we want and then do what they do.
Count another miracle JoniJoni...You must be deserving and willing of your HP's grace. Another tool to move farther and farther away from active alcoholism. Yaaay!!
weeee :) I just wanna say that AA Women ROCK.... nothing wrong with you fella's out there, but I need all the awesome AA CHICKS, young and old, that I can get right now in my life!!!
:)

Oh No...another Joni??? lol Just messin' with ya Joni. Great post. I've met a few who were like me, but haven't found my twin yet. I'm afraid if I do we'll end up canceling each other out. Come to think of it, maybe 2 of me could make for some interesting conversations...
lol..... I look forward to some interesting conversation, for sure!! I do know that I will be doing an AWFUL lot of listening to this young lady with 36 years!!!!!!!!!!!! Like me, she did not get sober overnight either... in fact, she told us in her lead share that she drank the first 2 years while attending meetings! This is NOT something suggested by the way.... (just thought I'd throw that out there for any newbies here who might need ot see it....) but it's nice to know that there's "hope for all kinds" of alkies, through AA.
