EEKS ex on the way down here

We had planned this before, he got a new Elkhound puppy because he missed our Elkhound Scouty who now lives with me... it is the cutest little thing, and he is bringing Scooter down to visit, and also pick up fish and chips from our favorite restaurant for that.... my aunt (Al Anon/my pseudo-mom) will be here to visit as well so I doubt anything uncomfortable will pop off, I sure hope not. He helped me a coupel of weeks ago when I was struggling.. (platonically ONLY)....

But I am still nervous and almost regretful that this is happening... he makes me sick in so many ways, but I will try to enjoy the meal and the dogs... how could I not enjoy an adorable Norwegian Elkhound pup, frolicking with my Scouty?

Anyhoo, just a heebee-jeebee moment here..... I am really glad we no longer live in the same vicinity, he is about 45 min. away now....

Kinda sounds to me like your intuition is telling you something.  Like... maybe this isn't a good situation for you?

I dunno, puppy and fish & chips notwithstanding, sometimes it's important to pay attention to those heebie-jeebies.

I know nothing about you or your relationship, so I won't make any other suggestions.  Keep it friendly and brief if you feel uncomfortable.

Thanks Lexie... 'tis a divorce, underway but not completed, so naturally there are a billion buttons installed just waiting to be pushed on either end. LOL I am getting on my knees right now and say the serenity prayer, the extended version....

Good, do that.

Like I said, I don't know anything about the relationship, but I divorced the first husband after a fourteen year marriage, when he had fifteen years' sobriety.  He now has thirty years, and we continue to be good friends, though we had some rocky moments in the beginning.  I credit AA in large part for the fact that I am welcome to stay in the home of him and his wife when I go to see my kids.  I think it kept him from getting eaten up with bitterness and resentments, when he easily could have--he was very hurt by my leaving.

Remember, the puppy is the ONLY thing you pet.  smile.gif

All went fine.... Serenity p[rayer sure does help us get into the right mindset... I asked myself as he was pulling up, "How can I be useful, pleasant, and non-combative? If I act like a jerk, what good will that do ME? What kind of night can I expect to have if I make things miserable?"

I was not, nor am I, in the mood to go to bed at 4am feeling angry, esentful, shitty or like using. The purpose of this visit was to take care of some business, and have fun with the dogs. And relax. And that's how it went. Thank you, God, and AA.

Might post pics of the pup later on.... he is absolutely breath-takingly adorable.

Yeah, I always find it helps to get myself centered and purposeful BEFORE going into a situation where I might otherwise get blindsided.

Glad it went well--look forward to seeing the "baby pictures".
