I had a bad dream last night

In my dream last night i walked away from my sobriety.
Just gave it away like it was nothing....  told my Sponsor, "so what" ....
It Shook me up as I was waking to think I had to start all over again with day one, but I remember thinking that I can not continue in this relapse... it will kill me.
I was so glad to come alert and find that I did not really drink and that I am still sober, I still have a sponsor, my HP has not left me and I have not left Him.
Vigilance protecting my sobriety, that will keep me sane to make good choices.
Whew!

jj,

I too dreamed I was drunk and feeling hopeless, because of it. Just to to awaken to the realisation I had not relapsed. Whew! What a relief!

I wonder, if some of these dreams could be interpreted to the trauma of my drinking days and the horror I felt in thinking I was doomed, as I once had?
Or could it be the fear of returning to drinking, or could it be relapsing but not relasping to remind me of "from where I came,"or what it would be like?

I hate those dreams...I am so thankful I am sober today. My brain will not let me forget.

Take a lesson from your dreams...I do.

 smileHugs,
Janet

Aloha JJ...a major AHA!! event...not real but very very telling.  A part of that was the
dreaming your intention to stay sober and the gratitude for having it meet you when
you walked out of the dream.   I've had those and I inventory them for the content
and metaphorically what they are telling me.  They use to be scary but now if they
come they are always helpful and I become grateful.   You can look at it has the mind,
body, spirit and emotions releasing any and all subconscious considerations about going
back.   How marvelous a dream.  You dream't it and I can use it.   Thanks for bringing
it here.   ((((hugs)))) smile

I hate drunk dreams, too. I had one last week where I had to choose between being tortured and mutilated or drinking and I chose torture and mutilation. I was being scalped in strips from front to back.
I woke up, got up, took a leak, drank some water and then went back to sleep...
and the damned dream picked up where it left off. That NEVER happens, even when I WANT it to (Pink & Lily Allen).

Peace,
Rob

"waking to think I had to start all over again with day one"

I try and do that every day, dreams or not. I guess I look at "day one" as the day ahead of me. Every morning I wake up with untreated alcoholism, and in order for me to keep it in remission, I need to treat it every day. Prayer, meditations, and turning my life and will over are the medicine I use to treat my disease.

Thank you for reminding me that I only have to do this one day at a time!

Brian

You dreamed Pink & Lily were scalping you?   biggrin

I once dreamed I was in some kind of casino-type thing, and no matter what I did I kept winning.  I didn't even know how to play some of the games, and I kept getting these tickets or papers out of them saying I won $1000, $1500, etc.  I woke up to go to the bathroom, and said that's a cool dream - I want to go back.  I found my way back to the "casino" and this kindly, very colorfully dressed woman said "Of course you can come back!" and I started playing again... even worse than before (as in game over in 5 seconds) and still was wining money.  Very strange especially since I have no interest whatsoever in gambling, never have.  And this dream didn't motivate me to head for "the boat" either...

Another time I dreamed a co-worker attacked me with a fake "sword", although it wasn't really a sword - it was a 3 foot long, cardboard mock up of a silver Cross ball-point pen.  I remember laughing out loud at the audacity of the person (and the dream) with such a cliche... "the pen is mightier than the sword".  I took away his cardboard pen/sword and broke it in half over my knee and threw the pieces away.  I think I said something like maybe in your dreams but not in mine.. LOL.

It's been a long long time since I had a drunk dream.   I have had very pleasent dreams about attending AA meetings recently.   Always a good day follows that.

barisax,

ROFLMAO! What dreams you have my dee-ah (dear.) The casino thing reminds me of some of the dreams I've had counting. I counted all night long, until I was worn out and sick from it, but kept doing it.

Now for the sword/pen thing that was funny as H*LL...usually in my dreams they are real. I like how you could pick up where you left off in your dreams. I've done that too.

Keep 'em coming barisax,
J
