So, I am now recovering from what turned out to be a 2 week vacation of camping at a lake.  I worked pretty hard clearing land, working on boat motors, running kids including my 2 kids, 2 nieces and all the neighborhood kids up and down the lake skiing, keeping the in laws happy, and making sure my wife got her ski time. We ate like kings every night because the Mom in Law planned hugh meals that my wife ended up cooking, and when it all was over, everyone left but me because I had a couple extra projects to finish up.  It was a pretty depressing last day because there was so much to do, I was alone,  and because it was the end of the "escape" that we alcoholics thrive on.  I thought about drinking a number of times and realized that drinking would only amplify the depression, so I threw myself into the work, and packed everything up and am now back at work recovering from the vacation! I was very happy to be part of this program and part of MIP. Its good to be back.
Tom

Tom,
Glad to have you back.  Nice to see you recognized the road you were heading down and need to get your mind busy.  I have days like that too.  I believe it's normal and try to do things I enjoy; knowing it will pass.  The end of vacation is always hard on me, but not as bad as it used to be.  I now look at being grateful for the gift of having a vacation and all that goes with it.

On the vacation; what a gift to be able to go to a lake with family and friends.  Taking the kids and wife skiing.  That's awesome!  I have a boat and take kids skiing, tubing etc.....  Those are times they'll never forget.  I attend a 4th of July get together every year and the kids literally line the dock with ski vest on waiting for their turn.  Most of them have never been behind a boat.  I'm grateful today to be able to deliver such happiness to a group of kids.  It's very rewarding.
Thank you God.
