NEW FOR FOUNDERS' DAY 2010
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the founding of Alcoholics Anonymous here in Akron and one that promises to bring exciting changes both in the conference and the registration process.
As final decisions and negotiations are made, information will be posted here first.
Registration Changes
Restrictions for some registration options have been loosened. (University requirements based on security and liability).
Up to 6 people can now be registered with each transaction. (Multiple transactions are still welcome.)
Full names are still required for all Basic registrations.
Full names and addresses are required for each person staying on campus, i.e. Package Plans.
On-line registration will no longer begin at midnight. It will start the same time as over the counter registration in our Central Office, 9:00 am.
There is also a new phone number for Founders' Day. For support and help with questions call 234-525-0732. Please remember the Founders' Day coordinators are all volunteers. Someone will return your call as soon as they are able.
Venue
The most exciting change is in the location for the Big Meeting Saturday night. We're very happy to announce that, rain or shine, we will all be together in Akron University's new InfoCision Stadium (capacity 30,000) located right on campus. This is an open stadium so prepare accordingly.
A flag ceremony is being planned for the start of Saturday night's meeting in honor of the 75th Anniversay of Alcoholics Anonymous.
For each state of the US and each country where at least one person is pre-registered - one person will be randomly chosen to be a flag bearer representing their state/country in the ceremony.
Notifications will go out prior to Founders' Day weekend informing those chosen.
Graveside Service
The Sunday Morning Motorcade to Dr. Bob's Gravesite is a conference event and as such, you must be registered to participate.
Registration will begin March 1st - 9:00 am.
Basic Registration and Package Plans fees will remain the same for 2010.
Basic Registration - $17.00
Package A - $175.00
Package B - $125.00
Basic Registrations provide entrance to the conference and all meetings for the entire weekend.
We will continue to offer a "full" Package Plan A for $175.00. As always, Package Plan A includes:
Basic Registration (ribbon & name badge)
Accomodations (Friday & Saturday night)
Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner
Sunday breakfast
Bus tour of the historic sites
Package Plan B.
Basic Registration (ribbon & name badge)
Accomodations (Friday & Saturday night)
Bus tour of the historic sites
In essence, Package Plan B is Package Plan A minus meals. This is in direct response to the many requests we have received over the years.
Meals are still available á la carte and priced the same as last year. They are served in the Student Union as follows:
Saturday Breakfast - $12 | 8-9 am
Saturday Lunch - $17 | 12-1 pm
Saturday Dinner - $23 | 4:30-6 pm
Sunday Breakfast - $12 | 8:30-10 am
Site tags for both Tent and RV are priced the same as last year.
Site Tag (Tent) - $30.00
Site Tag (RV) - $30.00
Please check back here for news and updated information. We're all looking forward to having our friends back with us this year to celebrate the gift of Alcoholics Anonymous. We are working hard to insure that this is the best, most secure, and unified Founders' Day ever.

That is sooooo cool. My sponsor has been a couple of times, I think. Enjoy it Joni and tell us all about it. Maybe some day I'll be able to make it. :)
Thanks for the information. A goal of mine would be to some day be able to attend this event and if not I have other local events to commerate our beginning. Thanks for the update and Iso much appreciate your quote.
Joni, I discovered last night that the GSR for my home group here in WA is doing a road trip with her mom that includes the Founder's Day celebration. Wish it was me and I would get to give you a big hug and take part. Maybe some other year.
