Good Stuff, that HALT - Hungry...covered, ate a bunch of taquitos. Angry...stating to get too one-way with my oldest kids about their caonstant fighting and treatng each other lousy. Lonely...Yeah, I guess a little. Wife belongs to Baby, kids belong to homework, most of my old friends are still on my "not ready to hang out with you" list. Tired...Yeah...tired.
I have a pounding nasty ear-infection and today I'm choosing nep on my sofa for my lunch hour instead of going to a meeting today.
The melancholy I'm carrying around must be from the tired. Nap - Time.

Peace,
Rob

Aloha Rob...ear infections for me are worse than the Chinese water torture.  They get
my most intent attention.  Melancholy is a form of sadness isn't it?  I learned that sadness
is a offshoot of fear of loosing something and the door out of that is the one marked
acceptance (Dr. Paul's story) and a desk with a tablet and pen for a list of gratitudes.
I also like to visualize myself laying in the hands of my HP where I can rest warm and
securely.

You got the rest part well gotta do that for the body and some for the attitude cause it
touches the mind, emotions, and spirit also.

Have a good nap.  smile

Ya I like the HALT stuff too.
It seems like a basic lesson that should be taught to everyone in first grade. It works for anyone not feeling 100%.

Never seen a HALT check fail me yet. Even when I still had the obsession to have that "just one" pint o' beer at the local pub after getting of the train, I found that a nice pack of jelly beans or sour snakes and a big bottle of Diet Pepsi meant that I'd forgotten about the pub after about 10 minutes on the train.

Rob,

This too shall pass.

It always amazes me how quickly I can forget about HALT.  I get in a lousy mood and usually it is I forgot HALT.   I sure have a great forgetter, that why I have to keep going to meetings.

Larry,
---------------
HALT = Hungry, Angry, Lonely, Tired
HALT = Honestly, Actively, Lovingly Tolerant
HALT = Hope, Acceptance, Love and Tolerance
HALT = Horny, Arrogant, Lazy and Tragic

i always think SICK should be added to HALT because when im ill or poorly my emotions go out the window and its as bad as being hungry angry lonely or tired. I hope your ear gets better and u feel better.

Hi There Rob,

Have only had one sore ear in my whole life....pretty painful stuff.

I was also thinking of how you are coming down off of so much stress that you had been under for over a week, right, that kind of stress was almost over the richter scale....and there are usually emotions connected to that coming down from those stressors.

Just happy to see you are focused on HALT, and taking care of yourself.....

Lots of Love, and hope your ear ache goes away fast...

Toni

I just returned from a meeting and I heard someone talk about the acronym HALT.  He said it was good and that he could tell us what it stood for but then never did.  I took it that it was up to us to find out.  Well needless to say, when I got home I logged into this site and there it was.

Thanks Rob for posting and after reading everyones post I think I need some rest.

Jerry - I like that...sadness is a form of fear of loss and the cure for that is acceptance.
Jennifer - You're right!
Toni - Some stress I can handle and some I can't. Slow stress or people-related stress is too much for me.

Peace,
Rob

ROBBBBB.......

You are STILL recuperating from what happened with baby River!! You are, and so is your whole family. You don't just "get the good news, sleep it off, wait a day or two", and then life is all back to normal in a week. You are still experiencing effects from a highly stressful, emotional, life and death situation which lasted for DAYS on end, days which seemed to you at the time like months and years.

Rest. Eat. Meetings. And if nothing else right now, throw your hands up and let the older kids fight. You need to recuperate!!

Off to bed, Rob!!
