I WILL NOT FEAR

Lord, God, I have no idea where I am going.

I do not see the road ahead of me.

I can not know for certain where it will end.

Nor do I really know myself, and the fact that I think I am following your Will does not mean that I am actually doing so.

But I believe that the desire to please You does in fact please You, and I hope that I have that desire in all that I am doing.

I hope that I will never do anything apart from that desire.

And I know that if I do this You will lead me by the right road though I may know nothing about it.

Therefore I trust You always, though I may seem lost in the shadow of death.

I will not fear, for You are with me, and never will leave me to face my perils alone

(Thoughts In Solitude - Thomas Merton)

thx Nice read. Fear I think is in most of us. Sometimes I also have to ask for guidance along the path.

Thanks, Larry.  Faith, something I struggle with at times.  Much more faith now than in the past.  I do pray AM & PM along with some quiet time with God.  I do see progress though... and that's encouraging.  Progress not perfection.. right?

Larry,
I just found a copy of this book in my local charity shop - so so comforting, I love it.
Great for my Step 11.

Hi Larry:
I believe that "Fear" is the biggest enemy in the world today; I see it in my life and in the lives of people I work with everyday. I see it in my children and extended family members and I also believe "fear" is the number one cause of addiction today. People don't recognize it because they are "afraid" to look at it..... that's a great prayer you posted. Thanks!!

Do not be afraid,

for I have redeemed you.

I have called you by your name, you are mine.

When you walk through the waters,

I'll be with you,

you will never sink below the waves.

When the fire is burning all around you,

you will never be consumed by the flames.

When the fear of loneliness

is looming, then remember I am at your side.

When you dwell in the exile of the stranger,

remember you are precious in my eyes.

You are mine, O my child, I am your Father,

and I love you with a perfect love.
