Getting on The Chat Room
Permalink

Hi

Anyone else having trouble getting on the Chat/Meeting Room?

It has been fine since I started being on MIP, now all of the sudden it keeps saying I need a Plugin.

This has never happened before.

I did go through all my programs and deleted any new updates that occured about the time I started getting the other message.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

HELP, so I can get back on.  When on, I am known as "lynn".

Hi

Yes, I am.

Have not had any trouble until just about a week ago starting on March 11 or 12.

I took off some updates that had occured but still no luck getting on.

Go to the chat room home page and scroll to the bottom of the page . click the link miRc.
That may help.

Tried that too.

I had the whole thing downloaded as I was going to try and be a chairperson for a meeting or 2.

I took it all off to see if that was the problem--no luck with that either.

the only thing that I know that causes problems is changes to Java settings. The "plug in" might be java.

Hi Karin,

Yes that was my problem, Java,  something about updating Java, found Java, then updated it, and again, said the same thing, it would NOT acknowledge the Updated version of Java.

Tried to work this out for about two weeks, last year, and finally said Uncle...just gave up trying.

Hope you will find a way, as I know you really like the online meetings.....

Crossing my fingers for you.
Toni

Toni, it might be something to do with your security settings. When I go there a screen pops up with two choiced, and says "Trust eppelet or Don't trust". I click the "Trust" and the chat starts loading.
I am on a Mac computer though.

Hi

Thanks, for the tips.

I was now able to get to My Boyfriends and check his computer.

He has Java, and it works fine on his.  Got the name and version number of his, and will try to find it and put on mine.

I am begining to wonder if some of the other updates for othe things messed up mine or is blocking it somehow.

I prefer using mIRC. I may be biased, though, because I've been using it since it first came out.

If you want to go the mIRC route, download and install it.

Open it up. At the bottom of the screen you will see a text box, click in there and type these three commands (without the quotes.. you must include the / though).

"/nick whatever-you-want-your-nickname-to-be"

"/server irc.chat4all.org"

"/join #aachat"

That's it!
