I'll hit two weeks sober tomorrow,I feel great and Im starting to think more clearly. Going to the Dr.s on Thursday to get a check up on some old injuries, and to see how much damage Ive done. The guys from my Punk Band have been calling... they want to line some shows up for the summer,Im the singer and Guitarist. Im not ready for it yet but I do miss it.I'd really like to find a way to continue to play in my Punk band and not destroy myself. I feel like I have more energy and even writing better songs... - 2 weeks down,One Day at A Time!
You certainly take me back. I can vividly remember not thinking I would make it for two hours without a drink. I kept coming back and went to three meetings that first day, I got down on my knees and I asked God for help without conditions. I did not drink and discovered that somehow I had made it through one whole day 24 hours. I repeated what was working the next day, hit 3 meetings got on my knees and asked God's help again with out conditions and did'nt drink. One day led to the next and somehow with God's guidance and AA I am now considered to be an oldtimer.
The reason I tell you this is that if a sick SOB like me can do it you can too. Just concentrate on today, not tomorrow only today, and do the next right thing today for your sobriety. You will be amazed how much better it gets. Every time I think that it is as good as it can get ---- I am totally wrong it just keeps getting better.
Larry, ------------------------------------------------------ Why I go to meetings. "It is difficult to solve a problem with the same mind that created it."
So far the biggest change has been how much I eat. My sleep schedule has been turned upside-down, but I can blame that mostly on being seasonally unemployed for the most part.
Anyway, congrats! I can't wait until I can say 6 months, one year, two years, etc.
Congrats LOL and Mizuno! on 2 weeks. That's huge! The hardest part is behind and I'm sure that you don't want to have to go through that again. Look to protect your investment in sobriety by getting to lots of meetings and making use of the phone numbers, stay busy. Your disease is going to be working hard to convince you that you don't have one. Remember that you feel good because you're sober, And Not that you're sober because you don't have a problem. Keep thinking about this and where you came from so that you don't have to go back. It gets better and better the longer that you stay sober.
Wow, this takes me back to when you first signed in.
Awesome progress, and just what Dean said, hold on with everything you have, and get to as many meetings as you can...90 in 90 would be so great, one big hug to you dear.
And for tomorrow, Mizuno, congrats to you too, recall the first 2 weeks for REAL, being so scared and vulnerable. Happy to see that you are doing better than I was.
Either way, it does work, if we work it, one day at a time....
Congratulations! I am one day and you're an inspiration to me. I've tried to quit in the past and hope that this time I can do it. I hope to be able to write back at 1 week, 2 weeks, etc.

Thank you. Starting Day 2. Feels good to wake up without feeling sick.
I haven't tried an AA meeting. Unfortunately I have social anxiety (hence why I probably used alcohol to feel better). I will consider it though.
I have an amazing support system in my husband. I have 2 little children and my goal is to do this for them. I want to be the best I can be for them and this is just one step towards doing that.
Thank you for the support. It's nice to talk to others who've been here.
