Well, I'm still here...... It's day #6 without a drink. Longest I've ever gone in 25 yrs. I have hit every meeting I could in the last 3 days and am off to one in a few minutes....... I've met some awesome folks in AA and I've met some real A-holes too!! LOL. But we ALL share the same problem and that's all that matters. I've heard things from people and realized "hey, I felt that way too or dang! that happened to me, etc." But what I've learned most in these past few days and what's most important is this: 25 yrs of drinking hasn't been about "the drink" it's been about ME!!! So, I now introduce myself at meetings like this "I'm an alcoholic and my problem is OldPro"........ Love to all.... "op"
OldPro , good for you! Six days that's great. What kind of meetings have you been going to the most, speaker, discussion...? I will be going to a Step meeting tonight,Step 7 -" Humbly asked him to remove our shortcomings." The work is never finished. This is a one day at a time deal.
GammyRose. The first meeting I attended was speaker, and it was really something. Someone who'd done the EXACT same things I'd done. Had the same drinking pattern, etc. The rest this week have been discussion, but I've heard what I needed to at the moment to keep me sober that day! It's AMAZING how that happens........I'm a bit tired and the "sober thing" has started to set in (i.e. I was forgetful all day yesterday !!) But have made no less than 2 meetings daily at this point. I'll have my first BB study on Friday night. Haven't gotten a sponsor yet, not many women in my area, especially ones with any "time under their belt"...... I've been told the women oldtimers are there, but haven't been at any of the meetings I've been to...... say a prayer for that one for me, I NEED a sponsor SOON...... how was your step meet last night?????.......... love ya, "op".
