I've made my rounds in the "drunken, sad sop" and "sober" circles. The birds just started chirpin, that's when you know you're in trouble, at least semi-morally. There arises a sort of moral center when the birds chirp. That is a funny occurrence, but still mostly disturbing. Oh, the sound of a rising day versus the sound of a falling decade? Sure.....Yeah, its dramatic...but then what is anything worth creating? Ever heard of an anti-climactic drama? An Oscar-winning "draining performance"? Or, "a pot-hole of an interpretation".

Blah......have it. You deserve it.

Have the "birdsongs" ever "twittered with such modern obscenity?" Only the dead birds can tweet that one. So gruesome and yet so- "Shut Up!"

I'm providing the vim......(hoping for the vinegar)

Hey Dodds, I remember dreading the dawn, birds chirping, and watching humanity begin it's daily struggle.
There is something comforting about the night that disappears at dawn and the sudden realization that there is something really different about how I'm living my life.

Hey folks, wow thats exactly the opposite for me.During 'ARCHERY SEASON' UPSTATE NEW YORK, I get into my tree in the dark and sit and watch and wait for the earth to come alive.Sounds in the dark definitely eye opening in the light.Watch the owl fly away.the squirrels who have been making a racket in the dark come to view, the bluejays, cardinals, sparrows and crows all start singing with the break of light.I can see the other hunters in the woods.the hawk perched very top of tree, eyeing a field mouse, the cats also looking for food, the brown fox and coyotes moving under the logs and in and out of the brush.ohh sorry  was gettin lost in the vision.Me and nature alone ,deep in the woods ,watching God's creatures all starting their days and ending their nights. When I do see a deer coming down my trail sometimes I take the shot ,sometimes I dont,I just watch!Oh well back to the 'chirping and hammering at work"(that I am grateful for)..Commander Cody and the lost planet airmen signing off!!!smile

Mike, I was talking pre-recovery, not sure what Dodds was referring to. I watch the sunrise every morning over the water from my hot tub. A steady stream of blue herons, seagulls, egrets, ospreys, quaker parots, pelicans flying over. Dolphins and cormorans hunting for fish and several mallard and wood ducks begging for a handout.
