The meetings I have been attending are predominantly men, and the few women are relatively new, like myself. I would appreciate guidance. Many thanks to you all.
I feel your pain!! Many times I'm the only female in the room with a group of men. But, I have known most everyone there for almost 2 years so It doesn't bother me. I had a couple sponsors that didn't work out finally a few months ago a lady moved here from TX with over 30 years sobriety. She's now my sponsor. They say it's important to get a sponsor from the beginning. But, I had to wait until the right woman came along & I don't regret it a minute & didn't get drunk while waiting either.

Do you have good meeting schedule for your area? Look for Women's meetings and Step meetings. Sponsors are for working the steps with so looking in a step meeting is a good place. Old timers usually like older established meetings, and most of those are held at churches. I'd recommend looking someone with 10+ years of sobriety, but that's not a requirement.
In my neck of the woods, the women with substantial sober time who don't go to the women only meetings, go (as Dean said), to the meetings that are well established. Ask around. Bring it up at the beginning of a share and others in your meetings will help.
