Just lost my job....

Yesterday was my belly button birthday. Great day...I went into work & boss called a couple of us into her office & the doors are closing on Friday. Bussiness is slow & they've decided to go out of bussiness. Now, I'd liked to have had more notice. But, I take this as god doing for me what I can't do for myself. I've hated this job & wanted to leave but stayed anyway. Now, I'm forced to move on & I take this as a good thing. This coming from someone who came into the drug & alcohol abuse rehab with nothing but the clothes on their back!! I've picked myself up & live on my own & I can't see something as trivial as finding another job bringing me down. It's all a matter of attitude & how you take life's little hurdles & handle them. Can't say I'm not a little scared. But, I won't let fear overcome me today!! God hasn't brought me this far to drop me now!no

Amen Tessa,, great attitude!  literature tells us we stay in 'relationships when we know they are over"  relationships can be terribly painful areas(home, work, church, groups etc).Keep your faith in your HP and you just have to get out of the way, listen for help(pray and meditate)and what will be will be...Let us know how its going...peacesmile

Aloha Tessa...One thing for sure is that your awareness is very good and that you
mentioned the aspect of fear reminds me that you are right where I always want to
be when stuff like this (life) happens.    False   Evidence   Appearing   Real.  When
my brain tries to tangle with negative events and I am outside of program and feeling
alone and hopeless (not helpless) then all the evidence available that a drink might
heal me for the moment is false.

I'm grateful for your share and hopeful your job situation is better than before.

(((((Tessa))))) smile

Great attitude, Tessa... You know what they say... When God closes a door, somewhere He opens a window. Life is too short to work a job you don't like. I think this is a gift! You're strong, you've shown the world that. Happy job hunting!

Had this customer today & he told me to have a nice evening. I jokenly replied that I would but I had to work. He told me it could be worse...that I could not have a job to go too!! I thought I was going to roll in the floor laughing. He had no idea how close to the truth he was! The public isn't aware we're closing yet. I work til Friday & figured I'd take a weekend break & then start fresh on Monday looking for another job. In the past I'd let this get me down but trying my best to stay upbeat! It's not the end of the world. Just the end of a job I didn't like anyway. The job itself was great but the boss is a major nitpicker & drives me insane! I know something better is out there. I've just got to find it!!:) thx for the encouraging replies!!

Tessa, you really sound like a person who has been in the program a while and has wisdom to share. I am really impressed by the way you are handling this and it is a great model for how to ride through the rough times using the tools we have been given.

Great share, Tessa, been there, done that, lost my job at 3 years into recovery (due to ill-health) and became homeless at 9 and a half years into recover (due to self-will run riot, and the ISM = I Sponsor Myself) Both situations very painful, both I got through with the fellowship and programme, often with white-knuckles, but I realised that both situations had to happen in order for growth to take place which moved me on in a direction I could never havedreamt could happen.

In recovery, and in God's own time, everything happens for a reason.

Hi Tessa, I've been self employed for 20 years now, so I have to look for jobs constantly. I found praying for the opportunity to work, in order to take care of myself and my family, to be very productive. Our Higher Power wants us to work, so praying for the opportunity to do that would be the same as praying for his/her will to be done.
