I woke at 0600 this morning instead of the planned 0730, fully refreshed after just 5 hours sleep. How good is that?
I've spent a pleasant half hour on this forum and now I can hear the world waking up. The birds are singing their dawn chorus, so it must be warmer after the cool night, I've been outside and replenished the bird feeding stations, and just stood and listened - OK the traffic noise is intrusive, but this is one of the quieter villages round here, so there's not much traffic, after the rush hour (all of maybe 10 cars and a bus) then it's down to maybe one an hour, but the birdsong, wow!
The sky is grey, the streets are wet, the air is chilly, the house is warm, the pots still need washing from last night, I have a lot to do today, but I have had well over an hour of me time, of peace time, of quiet time. And I've only had one cigarette!
So, it's time to have a hot cup of coffee in a hot coffee cup, shower, shave and breakfast and get on with the day. See youse, have a good day now.

Sounds like your having a great day, its almost 1 am here in Oregon so I need to wind down... I do notice in my last 2 weeks of being sober I have been waking up earlier and enjoying the day, a lot better than waking up at noon feeling sluggish and needing a hair of the dog to start my day.. BEING SOBER RULES!

HEY - you're longer sober than ME today, matey Or SOME folx would say so, right? Cos some folx won't reveal their length of sobriety, and say 'the person who got up earliest today is longer sober than the rest.
Mind you, I was only 15 minutes behind you. We just got a new bed, which was a nightmare to put together, but OH MY GOD it is SO worth it, best 2 nights sleep I've had in years, which was a good enough reason to feel shite when I got up this morning.
BTW, I forgot to ask you last night - what did I win in the raffe on Saturday?? (I wish)

Thanks for that. What a great thing to be reminded of first thing in the morning... To pay attention to moments and the wonderful things inside of each. Wish every day could start with that reminder. Laurie
Yes, mornings are SO much different than they use to be, thanks be to God and the 12 steps.
I am an early riser too. It is still dark here , so I cant see much outdoors. However I do know that we got a fresh coating of snow during the night ( I noticed this when I went out on the porch to have a smoke and let the dogs out ) and even tho Im sick of winter and have been for quite some time, there is still a beauty to be seen in the snow.
This is BB tuesay morning for me . My home group and favorite meeting. I have a day planned of 'taking care of business', cleaning things up and getting things organized.
But first ... I shall make myself and hubby a nice breakfast and start the day together
It is great waking up sober and the only way Im able to accomplish that is to go to bed sober.
It IS indeed great to wake up sober. In another post on here I wrote of making a mistake last Friday. After 79 days, my self will took over and I got drunk on wine. Boy have I come scrambling back, a humbler person. I never, ever want to be back to having those mornings again. I woke up Saturday and thought - how did my body ever accomodate to this? Each sober morning is a blessing. Thanks for writing about the sound of birds. I live in New England and am waiting patiently for spring and that glorious morning chorus Today it's gray with rain on top of a night of snow. But it's a grand morning and I could just hear the birds while reading your post. Thanx! MAL
Hey Bill ,and were all also newcomers today as no one has seen this day yet from yesterday unless of course your a time traveller!During my runs years ago, at times I think I was,I lost all kinds of time!!!!Your morning reminds me of Bow season up north here, sitting in my tree before sun comes up ,listening to the movement of God's nocturnal and early morning creatures.Something special about watching the earth come alive huh!! Have a great day,you got a good jump on it!!!

Sounds like a gratitude list to me!;) May I suggest you write this down in a journal so you don't lose it. At a later time when you're feeling down you can go back & look at all the grateful things you've witnessed today!! Helps keep things in perspective!
