Hello everybody.

Well its been a long time since ive been here, too long in fact but im back to say hi and update you all on my life.

Im still sober and have been for 3 years in December.

I have been really really poorly, in and out of hospital and having tests done.  I was  diagnosed with lung disease in December and have now stopped smoking with the help of my higher power and my 12 step programme.  I am feeling much better now I am on the right meds and have quit the cigs and I am so so glad to be sober.

The first thought that crossed my mind when I was diagnosed was "Thank God im sober" because I wouldnt have  know until it was too late if I had still been drinking and I now have a chance to do something about it and hopefully slow down the progression.

I have missed you all and will now be here more often.

Hope you are all well.

Hugs
Karen

Hi K,Welcome back keep coming back! Life is shite at times, although we stop drinking we still have problems in life but now we don't drink on it we face them head on, there isn't a problem in the world a bottle of vodka can't make worse!I was given 18 months to live last year unless I stopped drinking and thru this fellowship I am coming up to my 1st birthday and feel brill. There are plenty of old heads here to talk to and help.
Thanks for coming back.

Thats great Nick, well done on nearly a year.

I too was nearing the end of my life when I quit drinking in December 2007.  I had stopped eating and sleeping and just drank drank drank.  Was in a terrible way.  But hey, that was over 2 years ago now and one day at a time and my 12 step programme and working closely with my sponsor and Higher Power ive not had a drink for today.

Its lovely to meet you and somebody else in my neck of the woods too.  Well nearly.

So true, you would not have found out had you been drinking. One of my friends has just been diagnosed with bowel cancer. I had my last drink with him. It clearly led to his neglect of himself and pub friend are no help in the place of proper care. Eat plenty of oranges to kill the craving for cigs,

Aloha Kay and welcome back to the family.  I relate on the smoking also.  Most stuff
I overly like I am now addicted to LOL.  Just got just under a year clean from nicotene
and the relapse was crazy.  I would have sucked on a telephone pole if I though it
was made out of tabaccy.  Don't even want to thinking about it cause when I do I am
glad it wasn't a Tanguerey with an olive and an onion instead of that dreaded Swisher
Sweet..  Welcome back and help us keep sober.  ((((hugs))))
