That's how Merry Christmas is said in the Hawaiian Island...We're sunny and bright with
the sun in low winter azimuth which means that the evenings will be chilly to cold.  Never
mind telling me how cold it is where you are because the perception is a relative.

Where ever you are at be grateful for the gift of your sobriety and how it was given
or arrived to you.  If it arrived thru the 12 steps and traditions of the spiritual program
of Alcoholics Anonymous be double grateful but that it probably arrived thru the
experiences and strengths and hopes and service of another drunk now living straight
up with a smile on his/her face and a Power Greater than themselves standing very
near by.

Stay ready to share this most precious and awesome gift with another man or woman
standing near the brink of their last celebration.  What we gift away is our miracle.

I and my sobriety are indebted to your unconditional love and care.

Jerry F, Hilo HI. smile

Mele Kalikimaka is the thing to say
on a bright Hawaiian Christmas Day.
That's the island greeting that we send to you
from the land where palm trees sway
Here we know that Christmas will be green and bright
The sun to shine by day and all the stars at night
Mele Kalikimaka is Hawaii's way to say
Merry Christmas to you

Thanks....I've been struggling with how...or even if...to approach someone close by with a serious drinking problem. The context and nature of the relationship, the unspoken "secret" of the drinking, and the setting makes personal involvement very difficult, and probably seriously unwise.

For now, the very best I can do is pray, pray, and pray. To "stay ready". I pray there is an opportunity for me, or someone, to share the miracle.
