First night with out alcohol..

Last night, I was sober for the first time in two months! I was a guest at a friend's house and stayed there overnight, where I enjoyed myself, watched films, and generally distracted myself. Surprisingly enough, I didn't notice any severe withdrawal symptoms, other than difficulty going to sleep.

I returned home today and I'm relatively certain I'm going to slip. Sitting at home by myself at night, seems the ideal reason to pick up whatever drink is there and the rest is history. blankstare

Aloha JP...see you know something already...hang around with a drinker and the
chances are you will do the same.   If you get to a meeting and hang around drinkers
who will not drink the outcome might be different if you are honest and willing.  Worse
person for me to hang around with when I was before program was myself.   I had no
idea that my problem was alcoholism or what to do about it.  I did know how to drink.
Didn't have to dirty a glass or use any water or store bought mixes for that.  You can't
believe what life is like without alcohol...can't even get close.   Thats the reason I went
and listened to others who had time and experience being without it.  I learned how and
you can also.   Go to the white pages of your phone book or the face page of this site
to learn where the fellowship is gathering at and come join us.   In support   smile

JP, why not remove the alcohol from your house and go to an AA meeting tonight?

I needed to get rid of all booze out of the house and I do not stock it now. I remember hearing at a meeting that if you want to keep drinking, that's your business, but if you want to stop, it ours. Go to meetings, they are truly the best bulwark when life get rocky with this, and it provides the strength to carry on at times.
