Aloha Kieran...Welcome to MIP.  You are not the first to have haunted this forum
and not the first who has decided that they were alcoholic either.  Most of the
participants here are recovering alcoholics and as you continue to come and
come back you will read what it is that we suggest which is what was suggested
to us and ended up doing for ourselves that works.  Keep reading and reaching
out.  Alcoholism is arrestable; if not it is often fatal.    In support.  smile

Hang in there, you're going to have some long nights if you want to get sober. Best thing to do is spend them with others who are getting sober also. You'll find them in AA meetings. Get there early and often.  If we have time to drink or think about the drink, then we have time to get to a meeting. A meeting a day helps keep the drink away. Pick up the phone and call AA. They will help you get to a meeting tomorrow.

Yup, hang in there, Kieran. Keep in contact with folks who are sober. We are so complex and everyting is so blurry when we are actively drinking... we really do need to let others who understand, help us. The best place to find good people to help you is an AA meeting in your area. We are here too, if you need to talk or need any advice or support. Take care, and please be careful.

I am constantly discovering that If I spend as much effort on my recovery as I did on drinking, I am paid back in tons by getting a life I feel good about living. Home feeling is with the folks in AA everywhere. I hope your able to make it to a meeting. The number for meetings in my local phone book is under Alcoholics Anonymous, I just looked. Hope you come back, this board is great.

When I was lost, I found AA, where I found a God , and this God has the power to help me when I rely on Him.

Keiran,
Welcome!  Pull up a chair and become a part of.  I would recommend getting to a meeting and let the folks there know your new.  The fellowship will take over.  Please come back and post here letting us know how it's going.

Welcome to the board. I am sure you will find everyone here to be very helpful. It is good that you admit you have a problem. Try going to some AA meeting in your hometown. I think you will find it helpful to meet with people who have similar situations to you.

Hi There Kieran,

Welcome!!!

All of what is written and suggested, you are not alone, and if you go to meetings you will find all the other members were lost and in despair prior to coming to AA.  There you will find a loving, non judgmental group of fellow alcoholics that just don't drink 24 hours a day, and we keep going back for that support, this is definitely a WE Program, and you are one of US.

Your words made me think of that Awesome song, "Amazing Grace"

"Was lost, but now I am found, was blind, but now can see"

My Prayer to you my dear fellow alcoholic is that you allow the Grace of God into your Life, and live out the rest of your blessed life,  in  every single line in that awesome song.... all of us that have been given the gift of desperation, live each day now, out of that horrible isolation and darkness, and lost feeling that dominated our drinking days.

Prayers going up for you that you find your way to that meeting, and just listen and go back the next day, find another woman that you like what she has, and ask her if she would sponsor you.  We need Sponsors to work the 12 Steps of Recovery with.

Please come back and keep sharing with us Please.

A big hug, and as Toad said it so well, Welcome to the land of the Found.

Toni
