On This Thanksgiving.....

On This day, to the young people serving and protecting our Country, sending out tons of Prayers that they may have some good food today, and just feel save and Loved my our Higher Power, that I Pray will lighten their Hearts.

I will be going to a Thankgiving family dinner, but my heart will be over there on this Day of Gratitude to God, and with Them that are keeping us safe today.

I've had both Thanksgiving lunch and dinner today as well. However, I have a 1.5 liter bottle of mouthwash in my house at my disposal, and I'm doing my damndest to resist drinking it. Its so difficult it nearly drives me out of my mind. Possibly I'll preoccupy myself with something as exercise or a slice of pizza or anything else.

Hi John,

To end the obsession, my strong suggestion would be, take the top off, and pour it down the sink or toilet.

If you feel you cannot do that, scares you too much, ask someone that you trust in your family to please do it for you.

The best thing you could do for yourself today, would be to be rather obsessive instead of finding an AA Meeting and GO to it.

AA is the Place that can teach you how to not pick up that first drink, please do give that a try.

We all come in with our OCD issues, and mostly around Alcohol in any form, and with the OCD, I say most, not all.

Let your body just go to the Meeting, open your heart and your ears and just listen.  And then repeat that process for 90 days, it will open up a brand new world to you.

Hope you made it last night with the mouthwash, but if not, it does not matter, just start over today, and give it your best shot at getting there.

If you have fears about going, that is very natural, we, well most all of us had those fears, and they just went anyway.  So take that fear with you, and just watch it evaporate with the people that you will meet.  This is a new adventure I hope and Pray you will not miss.

Praying for you dear, this morning.

Toni

PS.  Came back here to say, why not make a new Post out of what you had written in this Post, others might surely miss what you had to say.......we are all here to Support you dear.....that is what this Board is for.  This We program now includes you.  I come here for help and support, many times and get it.   years dont matter with the needs of an Alcoholic Mind,  we just have our One day at a Time.

I agree with Toni. I know people who drank that, and other things too. One man was so desperate, he drank aftershave, and that is not a joke. The kind of alcohol in those items can make one horribly sick, or even cause irreparable damage. (Kind of sounds just like what booze does, eh?)

I will pray for you, that you will want sobriety so badly, you will go to the lengths, like getting rid of that mouthwash. There are plenty of mouth washes WITHOUT alcohol now. First things first, right?

Take care.
Joni
